We are seeing a cool evening and it will be chilly tonight into Saturday morning. That is because of a recent frontal passage and an associated dip in the jet stream. That has cool air over the Stateline currently. That will change by tomorrow afternoon, however, as an area of high pressure out in Nebraska continues to shift eastward. That high will be just to the east of the region tomorrow, allowing for southwesterly winds to set up and pump in warmer air. I think we will see highs in the upper 60's tomorrow under plenty of sunshine.
The nucleus of that warmer air reaches the Stateline by Sunday. That is when we will see the full force southwesterly winds ushering in that very unseasonably warm air into the area with the jet well to the north. Therefore, we will see highs in the upper 70's and potentially lower 80's on Sunday.
But, all good things must come to an end, right? Well, that will be the case for us regarding this warmer weather. A cold front moves through Monday, and that will drop our temperatures Monday evening after seeing lower 70's in the afternoon. It will be a dry front, which means there won't be any moisture for it to work with. Therefore, I don't expect any rain from it. Rather, it will just bring in much cooler air. It will knock our highs back into the 60's for the remainder of the week. Some locations may not get out of the 50's by later in the week despite seeing plenty of sunshine all week long.
So thank high pressure for this beautiful weekend ahead, and blame the cold front for next week's chillier temperatures!
