After a week with a strong blocking pattern in place meaning temperatures in the 60's and windy conditions across the Stateline, we'll see some changes as we start the work week. The strong closed low pressure system that has brought extreme and dangerous rain across the east coast finally pushes east into the Atlantic. Our winds across the Stateline continue to lighten up through Sunday afternoon, however we keep the overcast conditions in place. This is because of a dip or deep trough in the jet stream that is caused by that closed low pressure system. With the downstream portion of the jet buckling close to the Stateline, we are drawing in moisture
from the Atlantic and from Hurricane Joaquin. This extra moisture will keep the clouds around through Monday. But as we start the work week we get a bump in temperatures as warm air moves into the area. We see the upper 60's by Monday and low 70's are then possible Tuesday into Thursday. Next system we are watching is a cold front that looks to move through the area Thursday late afternoon and evening. With added lift from the front, showers will form Thursday late afternoon ahead of the front, with a few rumbles of thunder also possible. We hold onto the rain overnight as the front passes through early Friday morning. We dry out for Friday afternoon with temperatures falling back into the mid 60's through next weekend.
