There was significant flooding reported around the Rockford area Monday evening, but there are now reports that a lot of the water has receded. However, additional storms this morning and afternoon that move through could aggravate these areas. A flood warning remains in effect for Winnebago and Boone counties through noon Tuesday.
There is a line of storms spreading east over southern Wisconsin with embedded heavy rain, where 2-4.5" of rain has fallen. This line is also extending south over Freeport and is moving east. This will impact areas near Rockford, Pecatonica, and areas in Boone county that experienced flooding yesterday. An additional 0.5-1.00" of rain is possible in these storms, additional storm development is possible later today as well. Another 1.50" of rain is possible over portions of the Stateline through
the afternoon.
Higher concentration of storms will be focused near the front, which should be positioned near and south of I-88, but to the north more scattered activity is likely. Heavy rain is possible in the highlighted area today, extending into Iowa, and east into Ohio due to a slow moving front. Additional localized flooding is possible in this area into Wednesday morning.
