Temperatures Father's Day warmed into the upper 80's and low 90's, but the heat index reached the triple digit mark for the second day in a row. Temperatures Monday may be tempered a little due to cloud cover from thunderstorms to the north, but there won't be much of a break from the humid conditions, and because of that the Heat Advisory has been extended until Monday evening for northern Illinois.
High temperatures will reach close to 90 degrees once again, but the heat index will likely rise near 100 degrees (if not a little higher) during the afternoon. This will make it the third day in a row with triple digit heat index readings, with our bodies likely feeling the effects of the heat a little more tomorrow.
The arrival of a cold front late Monday evening will bring some relief from the high humidity, but also the potential for heavy rainfall Monday night. High temperatures the rest of the week are expected to remain in the low 80's.
