A sinking cold front arriving from Wisconsin brought a few scattered showers across the area. The front will move through the Rockford area around lunch time, and will actually be positioned from northwest to southeast across northern Illinois. North of the front, surface winds will turn to the northeast, which will bring in cooler air off the lake. This will set up a tight temperature gradient across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Temperatures near the Mississippi River will actually climb into the upper 70's and low 80's while temperatures across the Rockford area will remain in the mid 70's. The coolest temperatures will be noticed closer to Lake Michigan, with temperatures potentially in the low 70's over the eastern corner of the Stateline, and even in the low to mid 60's along the lake shore!
