We had a nice afternoon today, but our favorite day of the week didn't have that nice start. We had some fairly strong thunderstorms form over the middle of the Stateline, bringing some heavy downpours. Luckily the weather stays dry this weekend, but the heat is on! Both Heat and Humidity will play factors going through Father's Day Weekend.
This line of thunderstorms this morning brought quite the downpour! Rockford picked up just over 2.5 inches of rain, Rochelle seeing just over 4.5 inches of rain. Both Rochelle and Winnebago had flash flooding due to the fast and heavy rainfall. A Flood Warning was issued, but has since expired. Luckily the weather this weekend will be much drier.....but it'll be WAY hotter.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for southern Wisconsin and the western half of the Stateline due to the high heat heading our way. However, just because the other counties don't have a Heat Advisory doesn't mean they won't get hit the heat. The heat and humidity will affect ALL of the Stateline this weekend, and even through Monday as well.
A low pressure system will develop in the plains and slightly drift northward, all while pulling hot, humid air into our area for the weekend. This pattern will bring temperatures into the mid 90's all weekend, with Heat Index values stay near 100°, and hitting 100° on Sunday.
With the Heat Index being around 100° this weekend you'll definitely want to stay cautious if heading outside. Have easy access to water and cool places, and wear light-colored clothing if heading outside. Also be sure to NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS OR KIDS IN THE CAR. With how hot it'll be this weekend, the inside of your car can reach 140° in just 40 minutes!
