Weekend Trouble Spots

Heavy rainfall is possible over the weekend in the southwest and Gulf as two tropical systems pull moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean.  Tropical Storm Bud is moving into the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula Thursday evening, with rain already falling over parts of Arizona and New Mexico.  A couple inches of rain will be possible through the weekend.  Hopefully this will bring some relief to the ongoing wildfires.

Another system is north of the Yucatan Peninsula and is forecast to bring heavy rainfall along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Louisiana, with several inches of rain possible through early next week.  That moisture will also be pulled north into the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys by next Monday and Tuesday.

Excessive heat will build over the Plains, Midwest and Northeast through the weekend and next week, with temperatures warming nearly 20 degrees above average.  Many will experience temperatures in the 90's, and some could even reach the triple digit mark.

North of the heat and humidity thunderstorms will be likely over the Midwest and Plains.  Most of the thunderstorm activity will remain north of northern Illinois through the weekend, but there
remains a threat for isolated thunderstorms early Friday morning, and then again late Friday night/early Saturday morning.  After that the warm front should be far enough away from the Stateline to limit any thunderstorms for the remainder of the weekend.
