Winds won't be as strong today, but temperatures will be as cold, landing in the mid 20s. Wind chills should end up back into the low to mid teens. High pressure sitting nearby will give us some sun, though we can expect clouds to increase this afternoon.
This is in response to the first of multiple clippers that will bring more cold and more snow to the Stateline this weekend and early next week. Clipper #1 will slowly meander to our north, allowing snow chances to increase this evening into tonight.
Forecast models keep scattered snow chances in play into Friday morning, which may result in slick spots for the morning commute. With this clipper system will be two cold fronts. The first is scheduled to push through around sunrise, with the second and stronger cold front pushing in Friday evening.
The frigid air mass that comes in behind it will leave daily highs and overnight lows "disrespectfully" cold in the teens and single digits. Compared to average, Monday's high of 13 degrees lands 16 degrees below average. Wind chill values at times may hover or fall below zero Saturday night into Sunday, then well below the zero-degree mark Sunday night into Martin Luther King Day. If you have any weekend or holiday plans, please dress accordingly!
