5:30 A.M. Radar Update: Consistent rain showers have moved into the state line with rainfall starting for some as early as 2 a.m. however as surface temperatures have begun to drop, some mixed precipitation and snowfall have also begun mixing in. Expect these rain showers to slowly transition towards snow in the next 1-2 hours as surface temperatures approach and eventually fall below freezing.
The second round of possible snowfall will come later this evening as isolated snow showers will be possible. Although these showers later in the day won't be as long lasting, impacts may be felt with any showers as any snowfall that does occur will be accompanied by 30-35 mph wind gusts creating blowing snow and reduced visibility. If you do plan on heading out this evening, keep an eye out for quickly dropping visibility with any snow showers.
In terms of total snowfall our expected totals will remain on the lower side. As mentioned early neither round will carry the highest snowfall rates while both will be quickly moving. Most of our accumulation totals today will come from the morning round wear a dusting of snow to totals as high as 2" locally may be possible.
Heading through the rest of the weekend and into next week, temperatures will fall slightly but that won't last long as we'll see another incoming system by Tuesday bringing warmer temperatures and higher precipitation chances.
