It felt a little spring-like Monday afternoon with sun-filled skies and temperatures warming, for most, into the low to mid 40s. Rockford's high officially made it to 42 degrees. Cloud cover was quick to move in late afternoon, leaving skies mostly cloudy Monday evening. Patchy fog has also developed but mainly staying north of the state line.
Low-pressure centered over the Plains will quickly move through the Midwest and into the western Great Lakes Tuesday morning, taking a trek nearly right across the Stateline. As this occurs, we could see some fog develop area wide late Monday evening ahead of a little drizzle and light rain. Most of this is expected to move in after Midnight, lasting through Tuesday morning.
Temperatures will remain above freezing - thanks to dew points staying above 32 degrees. This will keep the threat for any wintry weather well north of the state line where Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for central and northern Wisconsin, as well as for parts of Minnesota.
Locally, temperatures will remain centered around 34-35 degrees overnight, rising back into the low 40s Tuesday afternoon. But unlike Monday, Tuesday won't see much sunshine. Low-pressure will be sliding to our east by late morning as winds turn back around to the northwest. After a little fog and drizzle during the morning we'll hang on to mostly cloudy skies for much of the afternoon. Another quick moving system late Tuesday evening could bring us a brief shower or two, with mostly cloudy skies expected Tuesday night.
As milder air continues to flow across the region afternoon temperatures will remain in the 40s, well above our average high of 29/30 degrees. Our warmest days are likely to occur Wednesday and Thursday with the upper 40s expected, but then a quick drop in temperatures are expected for the weekend as highs fall into the upper 20s and low 30s Saturday and Sunday.
