High pressure will be the rule of thumb the next two days! Even looking ahead into the weekend and things should remain fairly uneventful, just a little cooler.
A cold front extending from low pressure in Canada is draped across the northern Rockies this morning and will move into the Great Lakes by this weekend. At the same time a cut-off low in Texas will provide heavy rainfall for many in west Texas, but also keep a lot of the gulf moisture from making much progress northward. The cold front is forecast to move through early Saturday morning. Winds will increase ahead of the front from the southwest Friday before switching around to the north Saturday and Sunday. The front will also become a little 'stretched' as winds in the jetstream turn parallel to the front and the main low stays well north in Canada. There could be a few showers late Friday and Saturday afternoon, but the weekend will not be a complete washout by any means.
