Not too much has changed forecast wise from earlier today. As of 4:45pm, there are still plenty of scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and northern Iowa.
While we are dry at the moment, these showers look to creep into parts of the Stateline this evening. There's no real severe threat for tonight, but we could experience a few rumbles of thunder, some small hail, and even a cold air funnel cloud. All of this is associated with an upper level low sitting over parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
For all you weather junkies out there, here's what is happening. There's a lot of cold air aloft with this area of low pressure. The colder air is providing instability to the atmosphere, which is allowing the showers we're seeing now to form more easily. As this low pushes east tonight, rain chances will dry out. Cold air continues to push in behind this system, though, making for a chilly Wednesday.
