Not Much Rain With That System

A cool front moved though the north central part of Illinois just before sunset. Showers and thunderstorms have moved eastward out of the area.  Rockford only recieved 0.03" from the showers and thunderstorms that moved acrross northern Illinois early this evening.   It will be mostly cloudy for most of the night, and much cooler overnight with a low in the upper 40's. High pressure over the northern plains will take control of the weather on Monday. Partly cloudy skies in the morning will become mostly sunny in the afternoon. It will be breezy with much cooler air moving in from the northern plains. The afternoon high on Monday will be in the low 70's. The high pressure will settle in directly over the area on Monday night. It will be clear and cool with temperatures dropping into the upper 40's as northerly winds at 5 to 10 mph become calm overnight. On Tuesday the high will shift slowly off to the east, skies will be sunny, and temperatures will moderate a few degrees upward into the middle 70's as winds become light southerly by late afternoon. It will still be clear on Tuesday night as temperatures moderate into the low 50's. The southerly wind will start to pick up by Wednesday afternoon, and temperatures will continue their upward trend to near 80 degrees by late afternoon.  Wednesday night will be mostly clear, windy, and mild with a low in the low to middle 60's. The breeze will continue from the south to southwest on Thursday in advance of a weather system over the plains. Some moisture from the gulf of Mexico will begin to move northward across the mid west. Skies will become partly cloudy, and scattered showers and thunderstorms will begin to spread northeast across the Stateline. It will be warm with a high in the middle 80's. The front from the plains will move into the local area on Friday and stall out on a Chicago to Moline line pretty close to Interstate 80. With the front nearby, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible through Friday night. Highs are expected to be in the flow to middle 80's through next weekend.
