It will feel more September-like across northern Illinois. Here's why.

Anybody ready for a brief taste of fall? How about giving your air conditioner a break? If you answered yes to both questions, you're in luck!

Wednesday's cold front has shoved the higher heat and humidity to our south and east, allowing the air to feel a bit more comfortable for our Thursday. With cloud cover staying put throughout the day, this will result in a much slower warm up, leaving afternoon highs well-below average in the low 70s.

Our atmosphere will further dry out this evening and overnight, allowing cloud cover to decrease. This will leave temperatures much cooler for Friday morning, with most landing in the upper 50s.

Again, this fall-like air is only here for one day as the heat and humidity will climb into the weekend. With high pressure sitting over the Great Lakes, winds will turn back to the south and east, allowing afternoon highs to climb back into the low 80s.

Dew point temperatures will sit comfortably in the low 60s Friday, though expect those values to hover around the 70 degree mark Saturday, making for a humid start to the weekend.
