Temperatures and humidity climb into the weekend

After a cool and pleasant day Thursday, temperatures will reach back to the low 80s Friday with more sunshine to kick off the day. We will stay dry through Friday evening, but rain and storm chances will begin to increase Friday night into Saturday morning.

Scattered storms will be possible throughout the daytime hours of Saturday, likely near 30-40% coverage at any given time. We will have to watch for specific timing, as the daytime chances depend heavily on the morning rain and storms. Sunday will be more isolated in coverage, with most of the abundant moisture sinking Southward amid an influence of a strong high pressure over the Great Lakes. Isolated coverage continues into Monday as humidity slowly returns as the front lifts back North.

A large ridge of high pressure will develop over the Southern part of the country next week, forcing an oppressively hot and humid air mass our direction starting Tuesday. Dangerous levels of humidity will be possible at times, with heat index likely over 100° for a few afternoons. We will not see much relief at night with dew points remaining in the mid-70s through the middle of the week.
