A few isolated showers continue this evening, mainly South and West of Rockford. Coverage will continue to diminish as we head toward sunset with drier air working in from the East. Temperatures will drop back into the low 60s for overnight lows.

Monday will bring mostly dry conditions across the Stateline, but a few isolated showers and maybe a rumble or two of thunder will be possible during the afternoon. Best chances of that will be along the edge of the highest moisture to the Southwest of Rockford. Temperatures will return to the low and mid-80s under a warm Southeasterly breeze.

Oppressive heat and humidity will set in later this week, with a large swath of 75°+ dew points possible Wednesday and Thursday. This would allow for heat index values to push above the triple digits for a couple days, particularly Wednesday and Thursday.

Afternoon high temperatures will also be climbing, reaching the upper 80s and low 90s through the end of the week. The worst of the humidity will arrive Wednesday and Thursday, when it may be possible to see the heat index near 100-110° for some. This would likely necessitate a heat advisory or excessive heat warning for parts of the Stateline if confidence remains high in this scenario playing out.
