Increasing potential for showers and storms this weekend

While things have been dry and warm the last several days, we will see a slow shift in the weather pattern as we head through the weekend. Starting with tonight, scattered shower chances will begin to develop across far Western Illinois. Some of this rain may have a hard time reaching the ground with drier air near the surface, preventing measurable rainfall for most.

Shower chances will be a bit higher into Friday, with even a slim chance for an isolated storm. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s for afternoon highs but drop into the mid-70s for the start of Friday night football games. Spotty showers and a few storms may develop, with higher coverage later into the evening. Be sure to keep an eye on radar if you are heading out for any high school football action!

Scattered showers chances will continue into the weekend, with a bit higher coverage compared to Friday. Highest potential for a few thunderstorms will be toward the second half of Sunday. Temperatures will be a bit lower, down into the low 80s with the thicker cloud cover.

The pattern will continue to favor daily chances for rain and isolated storms, but no single day will be a washout. Eventually, the rainfall may slowly accumulate to meaningful totals. With recent dry conditions, any rainfall will be a welcome sight. But widespread and substantial rainfall does not appear to be in our cards for the next several days.
