Scattered storms through the morning may affect afternoon temperatures

Scattered showers and thunderstorms have been gradually moving through south central Wisconsin through the early morning hours and are creeping into the state line as we approach 5:30 a.m. This line of thunderstorms will continue to dive to the south and east through the morning which may bring heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and consistent lightning for some, especially areas east of I-39.

The track of these storms will be monitored this morning due to the possibility of heavy rainfall; however, we'll also be keeping an eye on the cloud cover associated with these storms. Areas near and east of I-39 today are expected to receive at least residual cloud cover from these storms through the morning which may keep temperatures cooler in spots through the afternoon. Areas under morning cloud cover/storms look to only reach the low 80's while areas to the rest may push near 90 this afternoon!

As of now, early morning thunderstorms will remain mainly east of I-39 as previously mentioned. These may leave an outflow boundary in their wake which may offer the chances for a few isolated storms into the evening. If we see a bit more sunshine this afternoon aiding in instability development, a few showers/storms may be possible into the evening.
Once again, chances for thunderstorms this evening and afternoon will be highly dependent on afternoon sunshine. If we see some instability develop though, an isolated strong to severe storm cannot be ruled out with heavy rainfall, damaging winds and small hail possible.
Heading into tomorrow we'll be a bit drier while also seeing temperatures quickly return to the mid to upper 80's. A quick dose of summertime heat will make a return with increasing precipitation chances towards the middle of next week.
