Temperatures warm back to summer-like levels after a pleasant Monday

The pleasant conditions felt over the weekend remain in place for the start of the week. We just get a little warmer day by day as high pressure shifts to our east, placing flow more out of the south.

This will allow late-summer heat to return before the upcoming weekend. During that warming period, rain chances remain rather low, with the best opportunity arriving late Friday into Saturday.

With high pressure close by, expect more sunshine with afternoon highs climbing into the low 70s. Still below average as we typically are in the upper 70s by the time September 8th rolls around.

Overnight into Tuesday, high pressure will slide to our east, allowing surface flow to swap back to the south and southwest. This will place afternoon highs closer to average by Tuesday, then above average in the low 80s Wednesday and Thursday. A disturbance sliding in late Tuesday may bring a very slim chance for a sprinkle or showers. Otherwise, dry conditions are expected to persist until late Friday.

Today marks 2 weeks until the fall equinox. This is set to occur on September 22nd at 1:19PM. Around that time, we typically see average highs in the low 70s and average lows in the low 50s.

However, with the way the forecast is shaping up, it looks like this gradually warm up is set to continue into the days leading up to the equinox. Both the 6-10 and the 8-14 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center show a great probability for above average temperatures during that stretch. Meaning we will likely see more 80s and less 60s.
