Lack of widespread rainfall continues through the weekend

Rainfall has been a bit of a premium here in the Stateline recently, and it does not look like any widespread and soaking rainfall will arrive anytime soon. While chances for rain increase a bit into the weekend, coverage will remain scattered at best.

An example of the rain coverage through this weekend is shown well with futurecast below. Showers and a few storms will be far from widespread, with coverage generally remaining under 30-40% each day. Friday evening may have a few spotty showers and storms for high school football games, so keep an eye on radar that evening.

No single day rain event will bring a widespread and meaningful rainfall with it, but we will slowly add on rain totals day after day into early next week. By around Monday or Tuesday, some locations may be able to pick up around 0.5-0.75" of rain. That will not be enough to bring us out of the rainfall deficit we are in but will help close the gap a bit.

Next week will bring a change in the pattern with a widespread cutoff low pressure system moving through the Central U.S. mid-week. The exact track and strength of this system is still uncertain. If the cutoff moves directly overhead, we could be in for a few more days into most of next week with higher chances for rain and a few storms. If it tracks away from us, we will continue the warm and dry pattern after Monday.
