Summer-lovers, rejoice! Today will feature the first 80
° day in Rockford since August 20th where the
afternoon high reached 82°. This temperature climb will occur despite having a east-northeast wind, though we will also have plenty of sun.
The warming trend is expected to continue into the weekend,
with highs soaring into the upper 80s Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows will also
climb, back to the low to mid 60s. Thankfully, this weekend warmup will not come with much
humidity as dew point temperatures remain below 60°.
Rain chances are limited, though forecast models do hint at the chance for a few showers and possibly an isolated thunderstorm early Saturday.
Any rainfall that disturbance produces will not be widespread or
significant. Several locations in the Stateline will likely not see more
than 0.25" of rain through early next week.
