Could be Storms Toward Daybreak
Thunderstorms formed along an old outflow boundary over eastern Iowa the afternoon, and they moved southeast across northwestern Illinois sliding just to the south of the Rockford Metro area between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. No severe weather has occurred with these storms, and they moved toward the southeast out of the area.. There is a break in the action until late tonight when a disturbance over Minnesota will drop southeast into southern Wisconsin toward daybreak. A thunderstorm complex, will be approaching the Stateline after 4 am. It will have the potential for developing severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, and large hail. Thunderstorms may linger through the breakfast hours, and then move out of the area leaving northern Illinois partly cloudy and very humid with dew points into the middle 70's. Temperatures will rise into the middle 80's by noon approaching 90 degrees by mid afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms will redevelop in the afternoon and end by evening. Some of those storms may be severe. A cool front will push southeast through the area on Monday night, and bring a brief end to showers and thunderstorms. It will be partly cloudy overnight, but with another disturbance moving in from the west, scattered showers and thunderstorm will be possible again early on Tuesday morning. With the front stalling out over central Illinois, and with the disturbance approaching the Stateline across Iowa, there will be a chance on severe thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Some much needed rainfall is expected to fall Monday through Tuesday, and it may amount to more than 1" for moisture starved northern Illinois. Canadian high pressure sill gain control Wednesday and Thursday dropping afternoon highs into the upper 70's along with a northeasterly breeze across the Great Lakes. By Thursday night the high will be over Lake Ontario, and a warm front will be approaching the Stateline from the southwest setting the stage for scattered thunderstorms overnight. On Friday temperatures will warm into the middle 80's and there could be some thunderstorms. On Saturday the warm front will push across the area, and hot and humid air will return pushing afternoon temperatures to near 90 again. On Sunday it will be sunny, hot and humid with a high in the low 90's.
