More Heat... Storms Moving in on Sunday...
High pressure which gave the region lots of sunshine for the past few days has moved well east settling in over eastern Pennsylvania tonight. A broad light southerly wind flow has developed over most of the mid west. Dew points are rising as Gulf moisture begins to move northward across central Illinois. A disturbance riding eastward across the central plains will generate an area of showers and thunderstorms over central Iowa into southwestern Wisconsin by morning. It will be hot and humid and Sunday with an afternoon high around 90 degrees. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms by later on into Sunday afternoon into the evening. A warm front will be approaching Illinois on Sunday evening, and with considerable Gulf moisture in the picture, it will be a very warm and muggy night on Sunday night with an overnight low around 72 degrees with a continuing chance of showers and thunderstorms. On Monday it will be another hot and muggy day with a high in the low 90's. There will be more thunderstorms moving across parts of northern Illinois on Monday, and there could be some severe thunderstorms in the afternoon in advance of the next cool front. Showers and storms are expected to diminish on Monday night as the front pushes to the south of the area. High pressure from Canada will cool things down into the low to middle 80's on Tuesday, but there could still be some scattered thunderstorms as the front stalls out across central Illinois. The high will move across southern Canada just north of the Great Lakes, and with the front stalled to our south, there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms off and on through Friday.
