Heat Wave!
There is a massive upper level high pressure area over the central plains which has spread it's influence across most of the country. Along the periphery of the ridge disturbances flow around it, and fire thunderstorm complexes from time to time. The Stateline is fairly close to the northeastern quadrant of the massive high, and may be in the ring of fire zone from later tonight off and on through Tuesday, before the high takes total control of northern Illinois weather on Wednesday and Thursday. So, the Stateline could see some thunderstorms later tonight, on Monday, Monday night and Tuesday. A front will cross the northern plains and approach the upper Midwest late in the week as the huge dry hot high shifts into the southeastern states. Once again the Stateline has a chance of some thunderstorms as the air becomes more unstable on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It will remain hot throughout the next 7 days with highs in the low to mid 90's, and lows in the middle 70's. What will make it very uncomfortable will be the dew points in the middle 70's. This represents copious amounts of moisture in the atmosphere. The area does need rain having received less than half the normal rainfall since the first of June. Area lawns, gardens, and the very important northern Illinois corn crop really need a good dousing. It would be great if the Stateline could get a couple of inches of rain in the next 7 days.
