Tropical Storm Chris has formed in the middle of the Atlantic, but poses no threat to the U.S. Winds within the storm are around 50 mph and it's currently moving to the east around 22 mph.
Of bigger concern to the U.S. could be the cluster of thunderstorms forming from the northwestern Caribbean Sea northeastward to southern Florida. Right now, these storms have about a 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone by the weekend as upper-level winds within the next couple of days will become a little more favorable for development. Some of the numerical weather models do have this system forming into a low (not quite a hurricane) and moving over central Florida by Sunday and then moving the system up the eastern seaboard by next week.
