Sunny Sunday

A large low is swirling just northeast of the Great Lakes in Ontario Canada.  A northwest flow of air is moving from Minnesota and Wisconsin toward the southeast across northern Illinois.  A ridge of high pressure stretches from western Minnesota across Iowa and Missouri.  It will be clear overnight with a relatively light northwesterly wind flow at 5 to 10 mph, and temperatures that reach the low 50's by daybreak.

On Sunday the day will start off with sunshine and blue skies.  The sunshine will last through until mid afternoon when clouds will begin to edge into the area from the west.  The high on Sunday afternoon will be in the upper 70's.  It will be a beautiful day for Rockford's Airfest. On Sunday night there is a slight chance of showers, and possibly even an isolated thunderstorm as a pair of weather systems over the plains move in closer to our area.  The low will be in the upper 50's on Sunday night.

On Monday it will be mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms will become a little more likely on Monday, but no widespread activity is expected.  Rainfall amounts look like they will be fairly light.  High temperatures will be around 77 degrees.  The weather systems will weaken on Monday night, but there will still be a slight chance of showers with the overnight low dropping to the middle 50's.

A low pressure trough will be sitting across the region on Wednesday morning.  Skies will be partly cloudy, and with instability still present across the Stateline, there could still be some scattered light rain showers.  The high temperature on Wednesday should be near 73 degrees.   During the rest of the week there will be a slowly moderating temperature trend. High pressure will slowly build across the mid west.  Daytime skies will be mostly sunny, and it will be mostly clear at night.  By Saturday, the afternoon high temperature is expected to be back above 80 degrees.
