We went from hot to cold in just a couple days, and that is because of a potent cold front that plowed through the area. With this cold front came some much need rain and some relief from the oppressive heat that plagued the area. Oftentimes, storms form along boundaries, such as a cold front, because of a gradient of some type. A gradient is a rapid change in something over a given distance. In this case, a steep temperature gradient came with this potent cold front, which was part of what caused the rain. Once the front passed, we ended up on the back of the gradient, which brought us much cooler temperatures.
