It's been a while since we've seen decent rain chances in the forecast, but this weekend could change that. A cold front looks to move through the Stateline late Saturday night. At the moment, it looks like we'll see some scattered showers and storms with this front, especially for the second half of the weekend. That's great news, especially considering this has been the third driest start to June in Rockford history.
Next week isn't looking as promising, though. Beginning Monday, that same cold front shifts back north and becomes stationary. With high pressure building to our east, we'll see plenty of heat and moisture moving in from the gulf. The combination of high temperatures and plenty of moisture could spark a few pop-up showers, especially during the afternoon hours. At this point, rain chances look pretty slim through the first half of next week. Better rain chances are shaping up for the second half of next week, however, with another cold front forecasted to push through the area.
