After a third straight day in the 50s, temperatures will take quite the tumble for Monday. Afternoon highs will only reach the low 30s with mostly cloudy skies. Any pockets of sunshine may allow a few spots to rise slightly above the freezing mark, but it will feel noticeably cooler than the 50s as of late.
Those numbers keep dropping through the middle of the week as our next quick punch of Arctic air settles in. Afternoon highs will be in the 20s Wednesday and teens Thursday, while overnight lows will be in the teens or single digits! Friday begins the next "warm" up with highs reaching back near freezing.
Air temperatures may drop to the 20s and teens, but wind chill will make it feel much colder. Tuesday will feel more like the 20s, while Wednesday will bring the biggest drop in temperatures and wind chill. Those chills will be in the single digits early on Wednesday but will drop well below zero overnight into Thursday morning. The coldest chills may approach -15° or -20°!
The coldest air mass will also bring slim chances for precipitation this week. We may see some flurries or even light snow showers Wednesday, and another period of light snow may be possible Thursday. Neither of these will bring widespread accumulating snow, but any snow that falls will stick given the low temperatures in place.
The warmer trends into Friday and Saturday will be accompanied by a moisture-laden weather system, bringing a wider coverage of precipitation. Initially, we may see this fall as snow Friday night, but we might also see periods of freezing rain or rain as temperatures slowly climb into Saturday. Stay tuned for further updates on this time period of precipitation!
