Milder air returns this weekend

If some are already hating the brutal cold and sub-zero wind chills expected Wednesday night into Thursday, there is a wave of milder air on the way this weekend! The upper-level pattern sets up with a return flow from the Southwest. That will aid in bringing a milder air mass our way aloft and at the surface. The colder pocket of air retreats North and East at least for a few days, allowing for a warm-up locally.

Friday will remain under the influence of the cool pocket of air, but we will begin to warm by Saturday into Sunday. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the low 40s Saturday, then near the upper 40s by Sunday! Overnight lows will also climb quite a bit, only falling to the low 30s Saturday night and low 40s Sunday night!

The Sunday night into Monday window will also feature a passing weather system that could bring spotty showers through Monday. Most of the rain looks to fall South and East of the Stateline, but a few locations could see up to 0.25" at most, barring any shifts in the track of the system.
