Dangerously Cold and Blowing/Drifting Snow

A cold front just off to our northwest will be sliding through over the next several hours. Ahead of the front's arrival, clouds have been building in and we've turned overcast across much of the Stateline. A few flurries/light scattered snow showers cannot be ruled out as it moves through. Behind the front it is going to get dangerously cold!

Winds will be gusting later today, tonight and into your Friday morning upwards of 30-35mph. With the snow from the last several days, and these wind gusts expect blowing and drifting snow.

Because of the chance for blowing and drifting snow, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9pm tonight for Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside Counties.

The blowing and drifting snow are going to continue to make travel treacherous. It was a treacherous Tuesday with freezing rain, sleet and snow. Then it was a wild Wednesday as the snow continued to make travel difficult. Today we will yet again call it a treacherous Thursday.

Make sure you are prepared for the dangerous cold that is on its way. With wind gusts upwards of 30-35mph, this is going to cause wind chills to bottom out around -20° - -30° tonight and into your Friday morning.

Because of the brutal and dangerously cold air tonight and into Friday, a Wind Chill Advisory is in effect from 6pm tonight and goes until noon Friday.

Make sure to dress for the weather, if you have to venture out. If you can... stay inside!

If you have to go outside, make sure to dress in layers. You'll want the hat, gloves, scarf and jacket (and probably even more layers).

We have received plenty of pictures of the snow... take a look at these pictures from out window world from your window:
