A Flood Warning has been issued for the Rock River at Dixon until Thursday evening. The previously issued Flood Advisory has been cancelled, and replaced with the Flood Warning. At 6:15am Tuesday the stage was at 15.9', and flood stage is 16.0'.
Lee County Emergency Management observed an ice jam on the Rock River between Dixon and Sterling. 100% ice cover downstream as far as Woodland Shores Subdivision and as far upstream as Dixon. River gauge at Dixon rose 5.5' in 24 hours to near flood stage.
At this level, N Canal Drive is threatened in Woodland Shores. Water
will begin to overflow into low-lying banks along west First Street in Dixon. Residential
property will be threatened near Sherman Avenue and River Street in Dixon.
If you live along
the river remain alert for quickly changing water levels.
