Temperatures Thursday afternoon warmed into the upper 30s and low 40s for most across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Southerly winds going into the weekend will push highs even further, into the mid and upper 40s, Friday and Saturday. While the warmth will be nearly 10-20 degrees above average, it looks like record highs will still remain in place.
The only day we come close to a record, but likely won't break it, will be Saturday. Forecast highs are expected to reach the mid and upper 40's. The record high that afternoon is 54 degrees, set back in 1909.
While record high temperatures will hold overnight warm low temperatures may be in jeopardy, especially Sunday night into Monday. A strong storm system will push a lot of moisture and warmth into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. This will likely allow temperatures to warm into low 40's for the start of Monday.
