The sunshine Wednesday was nice but it didn't last long. Cloud cover was quick to move in Wednesday evening and will continue through Thursday as an area of low pressure moves across southern Illinois.
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued downstate for parts of central Illinois as a mixture of freezing rain and light accumulating snow are likely Wednesday night into Thursday.
Further north, only flurries and light snow will fall across northern Illinois. Little accumulation, if any, is expected with this system. A light snow shower will be possible around daybreak Thursday, with flurries and light snow continuing into the early afternoon. Once the low passes the threat for any additional snow will come to an end as a ridge of high pressure moves in. This should help turn skies partly cloudy into Friday morning before the next system moves in and brings us snow Friday night into Saturday.
