Flood warnings now in effect across northern Illinois

With how much rain northern Illinois has endured over the last week to week and a half, expect river levels to rise into the weekend.

Flood warnings have been issued for portion of the Rock River in Byron as well as the portion that runs through Latham Park and Rockton. Flood warnings are also in place for the Pecatonica River in Shirland and the Kishwaukee River near Perryville.

Observations conducted this morning show most of these spots are in 'action stage'. Most will crest in 'minor flood stage' sometime over the weekend. Only the Rock River in Rockton will see river levels climb high enough to reach  'moderate flood stage'.

Those who live in the flood warned areas should pay extra attention to the forecast and be ready take action to protect life and property.
