Now, yesterday's improvements will leave us with a much cooler start to our day. However, we can expect bright sunshine to fill our skies from start to finish Tuesday, which will help bring highs back into the mid to upper 70s. All in all, a perfect 10 out of 10 spring day for outdoor activities.
Further to the west, showers and severe storms will form as a low pressure system/cold front lift into central Iowa and southern Minnesota. While this is the activity that we will have to monitor overnight into Wednesday morning, they will most likely be in a weakening phase as they make their approach to the Stateline.
Still, there will be a low risk for severe weather with any storm that maintains it's strength as it crosses the Mississippi. This is why the Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Jo-Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside County as well as the western half of Stephenson County under a level 1 Marginal Risk, mainly for damaging winds and large hail.
Any chance for rain or thunder will likely move out or dissipate by sunrise, leaving us with a generally sunny sky for most, if not all of the day.Despite Wednesday featuring more a cooler wind off of Lake Michigan, afternoon highs will top out a few degrees above the 70° mark. Cloud cover will gather up once again Wednesday night, paving the way for a secondary round of showers and storms which aims to carry on into Thursday morning.
