Sunshine to continue its dominance as our next system nears

Sun-filled skies Monday made for PERFECT viewing conditions to to view the partial solar eclipse.

That, along with a robust southwesterly wind left highs in the mid to upper 60s, which lands 10-12° above early-April standards.

Expect a similar forecast today. In even better news, yesterday's gusty wind won't be tagging along for the ride. Winds will gust up to 20 to possibly 25 mph, leaving highs in the mid 60s.

After a partly cloudy morning, clouds will increase into Wednesday afternoon as low pressure dips into southern Illinois. Not too far behind that will be a chance for a few spotty evening showers.

This will pave the way for this week's most unsettled day which will be Thursday. Scattered showers are likely with highs peaking in the mid 50s.

Expect any chance for rain to move out before sunrise Friday, leaving us dry for the rest of the day. Ridging aloft will keep conditions dry over the weekend and into the beginning of next week.

Along with this dry stretch comes a significant warming trend, one that will leave high temperatures in the upper 70s Sunday afternoon.
