Hurricane Alex now has 100mph maximum sustained winds as it churns its way quickly toward the northeastern coast of Mexico, giving it category-2 hurricane status. It's pressure has fallen to 28.05", and it's moving toward the West at 12 mph. It's located about 100 miles to the south of Brownsville, TX, and it's center will almost certainly avoid the U.S. However, high surf, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes could still plague south Texas over the next few days. --TS
