Weather Update

10:00am Update:  Gusty winds can be expected through the early afternoon behind the departing rain showers.  Look for gusts from the southeast up to 40 mph.

Rain showers will continue to move east through the morning hours with a couple heavy downpours at times.  A lot of the thunderstorm activity has remained to the south this morning.  Models are indicating that as the low, currently in the Southern Rockies, begins to move east through the Plain thunderstorms will once again develop late afternoon/evening as the warm front lifts north and interacts with any left over outflow boundaries. Severe weather will be a possibility to the south where better instability will remain.  However, the low level jet - which are stronger winds a few thousand feet up, will begin to kick in later today.  If they do we could get a period of heavy rainfall as the warm front and low move closer.  If storms do develop to the south we might not see as great of moisture return later today.  So we'll have to see how things pan out later this morning and early afternoon.
