The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Green counties through 3:00am Saturday morning. A complex of severe storms in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa will continue to move to the southeast overnight. Although these storms will gradually weaken after sunset, there is still a chance that some of them will keep their severe characteristics (60+mph winds, 1" diameter hail) into the overnight hours.
In addition to this batch of storms, more storms will redevelop tomorrow afternoon and evening in the Stateline area. In fact, the SPC has the Stateline area outlined in a slight risk for severe weather on Saturday afternoon.
Storms are possible again on Sunday, but at this point they look to be of the non-severe variety. We'll keep you posted! --TS
