Heat and humidity are nothing new to the Stateline during the summer months. But the first wave of heat tends to be a little more of a shock because after all, we're not used to it.
Temperatures going into the weekend are forecast to rise into the upper 80's and low 90's. Dew point temperatures will also be climbing pushing the heat index some days into the middle and upper 90's.
As the mercury climbs it's important to keep these heat safety tips in mind:
If you can, limit your outdoor activity to either early morning or late in the evening when the temperature won't be at its hottest. Remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, wear light colored - light weight clothing, take frequent breaks inside a building that is air conditioned and seek shade often if you do spend time outside. Be sure to check on those who don't have air conditioning, and check on them often. And NEVER EVER leave pets or children unattended in vehicle. Even with outside temperatures in the 70's it can get very hot, very quickly, inside a car.
