Cold Weather Advisory continues Tuesday evening

Dangerously cold conditions were in place for much of the day Tuesday, but especially Tuesday morning when wind chills dropped as low as -35 to -40 degrees in some locations in southern Wisconsin and northwest Illinois!

Despite the sunshine throughout the entire day, it took until early afternoon for actual air temperatures to warm above zero (0) degrees. Once the sun sets this evening it's likely we will see those numbers slip below zero, but as southwest winds continue and cloud cover increases from the northwest, temperatures will actually rise through sunrise Wednesday morning.

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in place for all of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin until late Tuesday night as wind chills will remain close to -20 through sunrise Wednesday morning. Current wind chills sit anywhere between -15 and -20 degrees.

Air temperatures will continue rise into the low 20s Wednesday afternoon as wind chills climb to around 10 degrees during that time. That'll be the first time the wind chill has gone above zero degrees since late Saturday evening!

We won't see as much sunshine as what we did Tuesday, however, as a storm system will bring with it an increase in cloud cover and light snow throughout the day Wednesday. The incoming snow will likely cause some issues with travel, especially during the afternoon and evening commute.
