The dangerous cold continues as the worst of this current Arctic blast spills in. All of our counties, including Green, Rock, and Walworth County up in southern Wisconsin, are under an Extreme Cold Warning until 12PM as wind chill values could be as low as -35°. IF you have to be out and about, cover ALL exposed skin as frostbite in this type of cold could occur within 15 minutes.
To no surprise, many Stateline school districts have either
announced school closures or has implemented a virtual learning day because of this morning's cold. That list can be found on our website at https://www.mystateline.com/weather/closings/.
Clouds clear out early in the day, leaving us with lots of sunshine for the afternoon. But as we've seen with previous Arctic blasts, that beautiful gaseous orb in the sky won't help temperatures at all. Temperatures will struggle to climb above the 0°, with wind chills likely remaining below 0°. Forecast models then show high pressure tracking to our south, which will help switch our winds to the south and southwest. Temperatures because of this will drop to near 0° this evening, then climb into Wednesday morning.
Clouds also increase overnight, leaving us with a mostly cloudy sky for Wednesday. This is in response to another Alberta Clipper-like system, one that will bring the Stateline it's next round of scattered snow showers. Snow-lovers, I'm sorry.
Don't expect much from this. The most we could see from this would be 1". Temperature-wise, tomorrow's warmer flow looks to help get us closer to seasonable, landing most locales in the low 20s.
