With one of the most active weeks in terms of snowfall now passing this week we can begin to look at the next winter weather headline as February now has proven to be our true winter this year! After receiving multiple inches of snow in multiple days we begin to look at the beginning of the week where an artic airmass will bring dangerous cold to the state line.

Prior to that, this morning we'll still hang on to the chance for some passing flurries, but temperatures will actually drop through the day. As we move into the early afternoon wind speeds will begin to pick up out of the northwest helping transport the beginning of this artic air mass. Wind speeds will be approaching 25 miles per hour today with gusts near 35 miles per hour as well which will also bring the chance of blowing snow on roadways.

As we move into tonight though is when the start of the blustery cold arrives. Winds will be sustained into the night between 10-15 miles per hour tonight with gusts near 25 miles per hour as well, combining that with subzero temperatures very cold wind chills will be present tonight. Cold Weather Advisories have been issued now the entire state line lasting until tomorrow morning as wind chill values are expected to drop to at least -15°F tonight. As well, extreme cold watches are in place for the western portions of the state line until Tuesday morning for wind chill values between -25° to -30°.
