Fog clearing late Monday afternoon

The thick fog that blanketed most of the Stateline Monday morning and afternoon is now beginning to clear as cooler and drier air settles in from the north. Unfortunately, this means our temperatures have also been falling with 5pm readings in the low to mid 30s. A breezy north wind has kept wind chills in the 20s throughout most of the afternoon. Further downstate temperatures warmed into the 60s, even 70s, a sign of a very powerful frontal boundary.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy through sunset with some clearing beginning to take place after Midnight. This will keep temperatures in the 30s and 20s throughout most of the night, perhaps briefly dipping into the upper teens just after sunrise.

Temperatures on Tuesday won't warm much, only reaching the mid 20s during the afternoon. Cloud cover moves back in which will leave skies mostly cloudy by evening. The increase in cloud cover will be ahead of our next storm system that is likely to bring a mix of wintry weather to the Stateline, including the potential for some freezing rain Wednesday night.
