Looking beyond the freezing drizzle Wednesday evening into Thursday, our next weather system will arrive over the weekend. This system will take a similar track to the latest one, placing the rain and snow line close by again. There may be a slightly cooler pattern aloft allowing for more snow compared to freezing rain this time around but expect a wintry mix with slick spots possible on Saturday.

As the weather system passes Saturday, temperatures about a mile above the surface will be hovering near or just below freezing. This will allow that potential for a snow/mix form of precipitation Saturday.

But after the weekend, the freezing line drops much further South, placing us within a broad area of a cooler air mass into next week. Temperatures about a mile up will be closer to 10-15°F, while surface temperatures will be falling into the low 20s for highs and low teens for lows by the middle of the week.
