The Difference A Year Makes

A cooler than normal March in 2013 is unusual, especially when you consider how unusually warm March 2012 was.

Here's the updated info on March 2013: An average temperature of 29.5° ranks 11th all-time and is the coldest March we've seen since 1996. Out of a possible 31 days, 25 were below normal in the temp department.

The year to year comparison shows a 23° degree swing in average temperature between March 2012 and March 2013. That's the biggest year to year change for a given month ever.

A few other factoids about this past March...

- We saw three 50° days in March. That's the least number of 50° days in March since 1984 (Zero).
- We saw zero 60° says in March. The last time that happened was 2001 and is only 14th time it's happened since records began in 1906.
