Tuesday Morning Thunderstorms

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone and McHenry counties has expired. 
Areas in Walworth County in southeast Wisconsin will experience brief heavy downpours and possible small hail as the storm continues to move northeast






Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been canceled for Winnebago County but continues for northern Boone and far northern McHenry counties until 10am.  The strongest part of the storm is now moving through far northern Boone County and into southwestern McHenry County.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 10am for Winnebago, Boone and McHenry counties.  A strong thunderstorm moving through eastern Winnebago County is capable of producing quarter sized hail, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.  This storm is moving to the northeast around 45 mph.  Main threat with the storm will remain hail.

9:10am Update:  Thunderstorm producing heavy rain and possibly small hail moving through Winnebago Loves Park and Machesney Park.  Looks to move just north and west of downtown Rockford.










7:10am Update:  Scattered thunderstorms continue to lift north across Wisconsin this morning with a few isolated storms developing in northwest Illinois.  A stronger storm near Lanark in Carroll County currently moving northeast around 35 mph will produce heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and possibly pea to penny sized hail  The storm will be near Shannon around 7:30am and Freeport around 7:45am. 






2:50am Update:  A warm front currently stretches from just south of Chicago west through the Quad Cities and back to Des Moines, IA.  Thunderstorms, some severe in Iowa, have developed along the front and are currently moving north/northeast between 20-30 mph.  Heavy rain and small hail remain possible with the storms moving through Carroll, Ogle and northern DeKalb Counties.  Current storm heights range between 30,000 and 40,000 ft.
