The northerly wind behind yesterday's frontal passage allowed the atmosphere to become more stable, limiting the severe threat locally. Believe it or not, there's a secondary reason to be thankful for this frontal passage. It spells a brief break from the recent high heat and humidity.
Friday begins with plenty of sun, though forecast models do show some moisture being tossed into the low-levels by the afternoon. This may result in a few fair-weather cumulus clouds. Otherwise, we can expect a cooler, less humid, and less active afternoon with highs in the low 80s. Music to the ears for those heading to day 2 of Old Settlers Days, City Market, or any other evening shenanigans. Skies remain partly cloudy into Saturday morning, with overnight lows falling into the upper 50s.
More of the same for Saturday, though there will be more clouds hovering overhead. This eventually may result in a few showers or isolated storms overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning.
The final day of Old Setters Days and Father's Day is going to be hot, hot, hot. The high heat and humidity returns in a BIG way, resulting in multiple 90° days and overnight lows in the low 70s.
If that is unavoidable, be sure to have access to water and a cool
shelter. Pass the safety along to your lovely neighbors and to your pets!
