Northwest flow keeps our weather pattern cool into the weekend

Wednesday's pair of frontal passages was just what the doctor ordered for our A/C units.

Music also to our ears as the next few days will be cooler, less humid, and less active.

The Stateline is already feeling the effects of these cold fronts as temperatures are starting out 5°-10° cooler compared to 24 hours ago.

Thursday also kicks off with bright sunshine, though skies are expected to turn partly cloudy as an weak impulse slides to our north. This may also result in the chance for a spotty shower or two.

Winds will also increase out of the west-northwest, gusting up to 35 mph. Something to consider if you plan to head to the Prairie Street Brewhouse for this week's Dinner on the Dock.

Friday features just as much sunshine and a similar breeze out of the northwest. That will make for afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s.

Forecast models then show a heat dome of high pressure setting up over the southwest U.S Friday into Saturday. This heat dome will keep the warmest air west of the Rockies, allowing temperatures locally to remain below average for the weekend.

This will leave highs for both Saturday and Sunday in the low 70s, which lands roughly 5° below early June standards. It's not until early next week where temperatures gradually warm, placing highs in the low 80s by Wednesday afternoon.
